    Default Computer to a server

I have heard that personal computers can be made as web servers. How is it possible? Please list the steps.

Quite sure this is possible through Apache but for that you will need to get well acquainted with the software documentation part first and only then it is possible. I would rather opt for Linux rather than Windows as it is more secure.

If you run Apache, dovecot, or server versions of programs or games then your pc can be converted into a server.

Servers are priority focused to long-running background processes and not low latency desktop interfaces. Plus security is often a greater concern as they will often be directly connected to the Internet with public addresses.

But it's not the case always as there is more to it than that. Servers are priority focused to long-running background processes, not low latency desktop interfaces. Plus security is often a greater concern as they will often be directly connected to the Internet with public addresses.

If you're running the server on a desktop, using a virtual machine (such as with VirtualBox) it would be a best start, probably using something like Ubuntu Server edition. You will find lot of support and information available online to help. Simply a little knowledge of NAT will probably useful, as would be port forwarding, if you are planning on doing good this from a home connection.
