The main feature of Cron Tab is to provide Web Access to the Cron program which runs a script when ever it is needed.

For instance -

0* * * - for a day like saturday
0 0 * * * - refer to midnight.

Well, you could mention more features of a Cron Tab below. 8)

A cron tab is normally used to schedule a job that is executed periodically, for example, to send out a notice every morning. It is also a daemon process, which means that it runs continuously, waiting for specific events to occur.

The cron command starts a process that regularly executes commands at specified dates and times. Regularly scheduled commands can be specified according to instructions found on the crontab files in the directory /var/spool/cron/crontabs.

In Redhat distributions this crontab file is located in the /etc/ directory.

Users can submit their own crontab file using the crontab(1) command.

The crontab command is used to edit, list, create or remove a crontab file for a user.

As unix/linux is a multi user environment, it is possible to have crontab files for multiple users.

Some crontab options are:
e for editing the file.

l for listing the contents of a crontab file.

r option to remove the crontab file.

v option to view the last time you edited the cron tab file.

u option will tweak the crontab file for a particular user. (for superuser)
